I have a really bad sweet tooth. I am trying to diet. But I can't seem to kick my M%26amp;M and ice cream habit. What can I do?? Please help me!!!!
How do I control my sweet tooth??
I have an unusual trick for this - as I could eat nothing but sugar if I didn't know it was bad for me. First, I allow myself one serving of dessert or sweets a day, if I feel I must.
Then when I think I'm about to give in and eat sweets again I put 3 Tablespoons of organic Apple Cider Vinegar into some juice, tea, water - however you can get it down (it gets easier with practice). Give it about 1/2 hour or so, and you might just forget about your craving if you go about doing something else in the meantime.
It works for me - takes that craving away! I suddenly don't feel so desperate to eat sweets any longer. And the stuff is actually good for you :^) I'm 5'4 1/2 and weigh about 118 (after Valentines, Easter, etc.etc.) And, don't forget to exercise. I find a walk before dinner often reduces my appetite. Good luck!
Reply:eats sweet fruits and cool whip...mmmm
Reply:dont be a baby. if u want to diet. discipline discipline discipline is a must. grow up.The best way to loose weight is to do naturally. The body will accept it better. Take half the intake, eat half what u normally eat. 3 light meals a day. No sugar stuff. Soft drinks are no good. Plain water is the best. No sweet drinks and no snack. Do not eat between meals. Have regular time meals. Do not eat before bed. No supper. Breakfast is a must. Take a light lunch. A lighter dinner. Less red meat, if possible take fish. The best way to eat fish is to steam it. More vegetables and take 2 kinds of fruits per day. If u decide to stop meat a better replacement would to take beancurd.
Reply:Check out hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) as the possible source of your sweet tooth. If so, then in between meal snacks of protein and low glycemic carbs and good fats will help curb the sweet tooth.
Reply:Swap the ice cream for popsicles or creamsicles that don't taste like popsicles or creamsicles. I love Edy's bars. Orange and Cream and Tangerine. They taste really good, have no fat, and are low in calories.
As for the M%26amp;Ms, take a handful of them and then rubberband the bag shut (really tight). So that way you have to go through more to get them. And don't keep them in reach.
If that still doesn't work, swap them for any chocolates that come in fun-size with wrappers. since you have to unwrap each individual one, you will be more aware of how much chocolate you are eating.
Reply:You need carbs your body tells you that you need sugar is because carbs are long lasting sugar unlike chocolate and ice cream your not a baby and it's a natural response so you need 3 light meals with 3 snacks all nutritous and remember carbs.
Reply:This is what works for me--keep the sweets out of the house. Avoid the grocery store and vending machine for 2 weeks so you can't buy more. If you go at least 2 weeks without sweets, your cravings will drop dramatically. Then it will be a lot easier. Especially at the beginning, it is so hard to resist sweets 24 hours a day--it just takes one moment of temptation for most people. Much easier if you can't easily access it when you want it. "Willpower" is easier said than done--most of us don't have enough of it.
Reply:The truth is nobody can actually fight off chocolates/ice-cream etc. If I bought a tub of ice-cream / or a few chocolate bars.. I will crave for it.
I can offer a few suggestions:
1. Drink lots of water - we tend to eat something when in fact we are thirsty. Use all sorts of non-sugar, non-soda water drinks to keep drinking water.
2. Don't buy any chocolates/ice-cream in bulk. Buy small packs and pace yourself. Eat only to satisfy craving.. 3-5 m-ms or spoons of ice-cream.
3. Keep these items inaccessible! This way our other limitations, namely "laziness" can help. You could get lazy enough not to go to a store every time to get these.
4. Start being picky of the shop u will buy it from.. lets 10-15 miles away, so u could get more lazy in buying them every time. You could run out of gas.. but its a different question now.. :)
5. Keep yourself full - meaning.. eat good meals.. protein/vegetables. Eat these good meals 3-4 times a day.
