I have a SEVERE sweet tooth and looking for alternatives?

I cannot control my sweet cravings. It’s the main reason why I need to lose weight. I have to have something sweet after dinner. If I have cookies in the home, I will eat the whole bag by myself in two days.

I’m trying to cut down but it’s really hard. I don’t know if it’s an emotional thing or what. I was wondering if anyone had any alternatives to sweets that I could have after dinner or during the day that would satisfy my cravings. Or maybe any low fat sweets that does the trick until I can have enough will power to just say no

Sugar free pudding or jello, apples or oranges (have a high natural sugar content and usually can subside those cravings), graham cracker and whipped cream frozen sandwich (http://www.myeatingdisorder.com/myeating... Frozen Grapes, home made trail mix, yogurt... Those are some idea's, I also try to eat just a small something sweet (never eat in the kitchen), and if I feel like that wasn't enough, I will make myself wait 30-45 minutes before going for more, during that 30-45 minutes I will find something else to do to get my mind off it, and usually in that time I find that what I had already eaten had filled that craving, it just seems to take awhile to kick in!

Good luck to you, hope this helps!!!

Reply:I can totally identify with what you are saying. I once lost 25 lbs and the biggest change was how I handled sweets. I would eat the 100 calorie pack cookies slowly and savored them. You can also get 100 calories snack cakes. Also, hershey kisses are low in calories. If you freeze bite size candy bars it takes longer to eat and you can feel satisfied with less. I also realized that the more sweets I ate the more I wanted to eat. Sugar increases your appetite. But if you just have to have a certain type of cookie then you could put single servings in snack size ziplock bags. Just a few ideas.....
Reply:Green tea helps. Drink a cup when you feel like snacking. Also, try keeping fruits around, so if you feel like having something, you can have a fruit instead. It's probably just a habbit and like everything else, it takes time to change. Good luck.
Reply:Add some strawberries to a lowfat yogurt.
