Nasty sweet tooth after work out!!?

I have been working out extra hard lately to begin a new life in fitness competitions. The problem is that I get the worst sweet food cravings after my work outs... I have cut out all fast food for quite some time and I used to crave it, but kicked it thank goodness. Everything was going great but now I crave sweets, which I never did b4!!! All I want when I am done working out is a cookie! That's not good. What is the reason behind this?? And the best way to handle it??

Your chromium levels may be dropping which triggers a craving for sweets. Try taking a chromium supplement. A good one is made by Solgar GTF Trivalent Chromium. Take it at the same time everyday between breakfast and lunch. Try checking out a book at the library called The Carbohydrate Addicts Life span program by Dr's. Richard and Rachael Heller. It talks about it more in there regarding sweets or carbs.
Reply:Drink a protein shake after a work out.. it will fill you up and probably take care of your sweet tooth too..
Reply:When you work out, you burn off all of the carbs you had that day, or in the past three hours at least, and your blood sugar levels drop dramatically. This causes your to be hungry, or crave sweets for fast energy. Within thirty minutes of finishing the work out, have a half a glass of orange juice.
Reply:you're strong enough to go pump iron at the gym but you can't control your arms and stomach mouth and taste buds? i think you're working out the wrong part of the body...
Reply:When I crave sweets I eat half an apple with peanut butter. It taste reallty great, filling, and sweet. Plus you can eat the iother half of the apple if you want. But don't put too much peanut butter. It doesn't take much.
Reply:Fruit smoothies are a great way to satisfy a sweet tooth. And they are very healthy for ya. Do you happen to know where a smoothie king is?
Reply:Craving sweets usually means your body needs protein. You can either drink a protein shake after your workout, or some other food that puts protein back into your body. It is because your muscles are craving it in order to rebuild, but we interpret it as a sugar craving.

If you want to satisfy the sweet craving though, you can always eat some strawberries or blueberries after your workout too, it will add some sugar.
