What's the best dessert to serve someone with no sweet tooth?

i'm trying to please my uncle, a very complicated character(think war %26amp; peace! yeah, the book!), he likes sweet stuff (well, not all) but rarely take desserts, i'm trying to break the tradition and wow him with any suggestion of a killer dessert, should i play with the chocolate palate? or something else?. He adores bananas. I'm open for any suggestions. Scrapping under the barrel here.

What's the best dessert to serve someone with no sweet tooth?
This is a very simple banana dessert from Argentina. He may like it.





9 ripe bananas, sliced lengthwise


1 tablespoon honey


2 cups orange juice


Slice of ginger


6 teaspoons shredded coconut


1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon


Ice cream





Mix the orange juice and honey. Put sliced bananas, orange juice mixture and ginger in a small pot. Simmer until the sauce becomes syrupy. Mix the coconut and the cinnamon. Serve the bananas with ice cream and top with the coconut.
Reply:You can look up a recipe for ricotta cheesecake - not as sweet but really a good dessert. Also chocolate mousse - made with dark chocolate. I don't care for sugar myself - but things made with dark chocolate aren't typically as sweet.

Reply:How about a fruit flavoured mouse? It's quite simple, relatively inexpensive and tastes yummy.


Dissolve one packet unflavoured gelatin in warm water. Add one can thawed, frozen strawberry daiquiri mix (no alcohol), mix well.


Whip in one quart heavy cream until thick and smooth. Spoon into dessert cups or sherbert glasses and refrigerate for four hours. Top with a fresh strawberry and a dollop of whipped cream.
Reply:I would go with banana pudding, but kick it up a notch.





Use banana pudding mix from Jello - mix according to directions. Let chill in the fridge. Once firm, add in a block of room temp cream cheese and mix up.





Using Pepperidge Farms Chessmen cookies - line the bottom of your pan solidly with cookies. Layer in banana pudding mixture, then add your sliced bananas, then add another layer of cookies, another layer of pudding and bananas then top with more cookies. Chill until firm. When you are ready to serve, add whipped cream and if you like some chopped nuts for color.





It is wonderful, light and if he likes bananas, he will love this dessert.
Reply:Skip dessert altogether and go for a really spectacular cheese-platter, throw on some dried fruit and perhaps a few gourmet chocolates on the side to satisfy the sweet tooths.
Reply:How about rice pudding? Very mild sweetness and an old-fashioned dessert. One of my faves.
Reply:Try a really dark chocolate (like 70% cocoa plus) tart. Rich but not too sweet.
Reply:I think you answered your own question. He likes bananas. So blend an overripe banana into your own homemade ice cream or sorbet (which is less sweet than ice cream).

Reply:On father's day we all tried this delicious dessert which everyone loved. Bananas warmed in buttery rum sauce over vanilla ice cream.





Bananas Foster





INGREDIENTS


1/4 cup butter


2/3 cup dark brown sugar


3 1/2 tablespoons rum


1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract


1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon


3 bananas, peeled and sliced lengthwise and crosswise


1/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts


1 pint vanilla ice cream





DIRECTIONS


In a large, deep skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in sugar, rum, vanilla and cinnamon. When mixture begins to bubble, place bananas and walnuts in pan. Cook until bananas are hot, 1 to 2 minutes. Serve at once over vanilla ice cream.

Bread, bananas, banana liqueur, cream and pecans are the featured ingredients in this slowly baked pudding spiced with cinnamon.





Bananas Foster Pudding





INGREDIENTS


1/2 cup butter


1 1/2 cups brown sugar


3 eggs


1 (1 pound) loaf bread, crumbled


2 cups heavy cream


1 1/2 cups milk


1 cup banana liqueur


2 teaspoons ground cinnamon


1 dash vanilla extract


1 cup chopped pecans


6 bananas, sliced





DIRECTIONS


Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).


In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Beat in eggs. Blend in bread, cream, milk, banana liqueur, cinnamon and vanilla. Fold in nuts and banana slices. Pour into a 9x13 inch baking dish.


Bake in preheated oven 90 minutes, until set.
Reply:I am the same way: no sweet-tooth, never eat dessert. But, even I have a few favorites. It's all in the person's taste. Does he like a particular fruit? Make a pie or cobbler. My friends all know by now that I love lemon meringue or banana cream pie or pineapple upside down cake for my b'day.


Cheesecake is a good option, as other people suggested.
