How can I overcome my sweet tooth and chocolate addiction?

This problem I realise is partly emotional as when I eat so much chocolate that I can't eat any more I still look for the buzz, distraction, pleasure and I feel a kind of emptiness when I can't enjoy chocolate. How can I get over this, I have now put on weight due to this and it is affecting my life more than I'd like. I want to be in control again and be my ideal weight and fit again.

How can I overcome my sweet tooth and chocolate addiction?
You are already part way there if you realize this is partly emotional. More correctly, it is psychological. You need to figure out WHY or under WHAT circumstances you crave chocolate. Then you fix the source to eliminate your craving, which is a symptom.

On the other hand, I am sure I didn't have any psychological problem but I did love chocolates. I ate it for 8 years as part of my job (I won't go into details here) - not huge amount but just something every day, and now I don't eat chocolate at all. I'm just all chocolate'd out!
Reply:It is the mind controlling this not a sweet tooth. You will need to take control of your mind. You may become a diabetic if you do not stop.
Reply:Smoke cigarettes :)

Now lets see how many morally presumptious people give me a thumbs down...
Reply:If you really think you have a problem, there are actually Overeaters Annonymous groups you can go to. They'll be listed in your phone book.
Reply:I actually have the same problem. I was able to control it just before Christmas and now I'm back again. The problem is that there is just too much sweets in the house!

Well let me share to you what I did before i reverted back to this habit. I went cold turkey. Yeah that's the only solution. Don't eat carbs for 2weeks. Don't start your breakfast with cereals, bread, or even fruits and fruit juices. These will only make you crave more. Food with high glycemic index has this effect on you. Do your research on this and avoid these types of foods. Plan ahead and go to your supermarket so you can have a stock of food with lots of protein and buy lots of vegetable.
Reply:Ask yourself this? Am I settling for what I want at this moment over what I want the most. If you really want to feel fit again and at your idea weight, support that feeling with your actions. Telling yourself one thing and doing another is going against you. You hear, what you say to yourself. So stop feeling bad about what you have gained, and start feeling good about the changes you are making. POSITIVE.... thoughts! They make a big difference. When you haven't had chocolate for a week, reward yourself with a magazine, two weeks a C.D. three a movie, four a new blouse or shirt. By then you should be feeling good with your new attitude and continue on the path to a healthier you. Let the New Year, bring a New You. Good Health To You!!!
Reply:Emotions can be changed by you. 1.) Substitute the sweets addiction with another addiction! 2.) Or go on a complete chocolate diet--consuming nothing but cholocate products during the day. You will soon develop a hatred for it. Let me know which solution you have choosen ok?
