Why does something sweet make a tooth hurt?

Or mildly cold for that matter...is it the nerve amplifying the pain? Why sweet and not any other flavour??

do you have a receding gum line? if so, your nerve may be exposed.
Reply:Your teeth are just sensitive to sweet stuff. Try brushing more and make sure you rinse with mouth wash that prevents sensitivity.
