Whats the best diet for someone with sweet tooth?
I've got a really sweet tooth and I followed slimming world and managed to lose 5 stone still eating chocolate! :o) Obviously not as much as I used too but still enough to get a sugar fix. Make sure you don't cut out carbs either as it makes the sugar craving worse (I tried Atkins 1st). It's really easy and I lost 3-4lb every week. You can still eat out, drink alcohol etc. And it's easy to cook meals the whole family can have.
Reply:Man, me and you both!

I try to eat fruit, not the boring apples and bananas but things like raisons (which are sweet) and other sweet fruits like apricots and stuff. You can buy a pack of dried fruits from Holland and Barretts which also have dates in them...all are sweet use it as a substitute. Also you can buy fruity type bars that have honey to hold it all together instead of sugar.

Reply:For one thing you can eat alots of fruits and also you can get diet foods that is like sweets and it just as good. I should know I am on a diet myself and we buy low fat and fat free stuff. Weight Watcher diet sweets are good. The diet food might cost more in the long run. You get the sweet taste and you won't missed the real sweets like donuts etc. Good luck one thing I missed is donuts but I know by eating diet foods I will lose weight and It will be good on my health.

there are also products out there that are good and good for you. if you got to have sugar get splenda or some other kind of sweeter but stay away from sweet and low it got alot of stuff in that is not good for you. I wish you luck. I have lost over 20 pounds by being on a fat free and low free diet.
Reply:Well, I happen to be Type-2 Diabetic. Which more or less means Mandatory diet and low carb.

I find if I ever get a sweet-tooth, what works well for me is peanut-butter toast on low-carb bread.

Peanut-butter is low carb for the ammount you can use. has a good taste, and a slice of toast (or two) can't be gobbled too quickly. You could have it with a glass of milk as well, or Vanilla Soy Milk (rather nutritious).

Consider it a snack to soothe your sweet tooth while eating carbic meals.

Also you might consider getting a Sweet %26amp; Sour Stirfry sauce and using it with stir-fry veggies.

Stir-fry sauces mostly burn away in cooking leaving just taste (and admitedly, they're a bit high in sodium).

Finally, take up gum chewing. Its sweet, its almost sugarless (1 carb per stick, if that), and can put a sweet taste in your mouth long enough to forget that you wanted something sweet in the first place.

Honestly, that's basically what you should aim for. Not eating something sweet, but just enough to get your fix, quell the craving and move on with your dietary lifestyle =), you just want to get a fix, not stuff your face.
Reply:sweet fruits are really good while dieting and i also find that buying small fun size chocolates also take the edge off. dieting isn't about boredom, it's about a more healthier lifestyle. i don't like the word "diet" anyway, i call it a better way of eating. i too am in the process of losing weight and also have a killer sweet tooth so i buy those fun size chocolates but self discipline is a MUST here.. put them away and only have 2 at a time! DO NOT have more than 180 cals for sweet chocolate. Good luck!
